SHIP

SHIP stands for Seriously Huge Investment in Parts — an AFOL term for monstrously large build projects, especially spaceships. Sometimes stretched to "Significantly Huge Investment in Parts" or "SS SHIP" (Super SHIP) for the absolute biggest.

When does something count as a SHIP?

No formal threshold, but the community roughly uses:

  • At least 100+ studs long (~80 cm)
  • 1500+ pieces
  • 10+ hours build time
  • Build cost of hundreds of euros in loose bricks or a whole set

Official LEGO SHIPs

  • 10179/75192 Millennium Falcon (5197/7541 pieces)
  • 10221 Super Star Destroyer (3152 pieces, 124 cm long)
  • 75252 Imperial Star Destroyer (4784 pieces)
  • 75313 AT-AT (6785 pieces — not a ship but fits the scale)
  • 75394 Tantive IV (1768 pieces)

MOC SHIPs

Rebrickable hosts hundreds of MOC SHIPs. Some are so large the designer splits instructions across 3-5 PDFs. BrickLink build cost for big MOC SHIPs reaches €1500-3000 — pricier than many official UCS, but you get something unique that floors the neighbours.
