Affiliate disclosure

Last updated: May 2026

Lakea.net earns money through affiliate commissions. On this page we explain exactly how it works, what it does and does not mean for you as a visitor, and why we insist that you always get independent pricing data here.

1. What is an affiliate link?

When you click a price via Lakea and proceed to a retailer (for example Bol.com, LEGO.com, Proshop, Dreamland), your click is registered by an affiliate network (Awin, Rakuten LinkSynergy, TradeTracker). If you then buy something — directly or within a few days — Lakea receives a commission from the retailer.

This costs you nothing extra. The price is identical to going directly to the retailer. The retailer shares a small part of their marketing budget with Lakea as thanks for the referral.

2. Which retailers and networks

Lakea currently has affiliate relationships via these networks:

NetworkRetailersTypical commission
Bol.com PartnerBol.com (NL/BE)3–5%
Rakuten LinkSynergyLEGO.com (EU mid 50641 — 3% / UK mid 24340 — 9%), Greetz3–9%
AwinCoolblue, Proshop, Top1Toys, Dreamland, Hamleys, Wicked Brick, Fnac2–8%
TradeTrackerDe Grote Speelgoedwinkel, Action, Intertoys, Alternate, Lidl, Conrad, Coppens, Megagadgets, YourSurprise2–6%
TradeDoublerMediaMarkt2–4%

For LEGO US visitors (no own LEGO US partnership) we route via the LEGO UK affiliate with an en-us target — that is accepted and still pays commission.

3. What it does NOT mean

  • No hidden price markup. What you pay at the retailer is exactly the same price as without the affiliate link.
  • No bias in our price comparison. Our ranking and prices are shown independently of what we earn on a sale. A retailer where we get 5% commission is not ranked higher than one where we get 2%.
  • No influence on which retailers we monitor. If a retailer has no affiliate relationship but offers relevant LEGO prices, we can still show them (without commission).
  • No tracking outside the affiliate click. We use the affiliate link purely to make the referral known to the retailer. We do not link your click to a personal profile.

4. How do you recognise an affiliate link?

Every price link on Lakea to an external retailer is an affiliate link. We technically mark them with rel="sponsored" in accordance with the guidelines of Google and the ACM (Dutch Consumer Authority). You don’t need to do anything with it — it’s only a transparency signal for search engines and browsers.

5. What do we do with the income?

Affiliate commission is our only source of income. We have no paid advertising, no sponsored content deals with retailers, no sale of visitor data. All income goes to:

  • Server costs (hosting, database, monitoring)
  • Domain and certificate renewals
  • API access at metadata sources (Brickset, BrickLink, Rebrickable)
  • Time and attention from Danny (founder, since 28-04-2016) to keep Lakea delivering accurate pricing data every day

6. Questions or complaints?

Do you doubt whether a specific price or ranking is correct? Or do you see a retailer where you suspect the affiliate relationship influences the ranking? Email us at info@lakea.net — we’re happy to explain every choice.
