Building instructions

Building instructions are the step-by-step manuals included with every LEGO set. Originally paper-only; since 2014 they're also available as free PDFs at lego.com/service/building-instructions.

What's in them

  • Step-by-step build images (numbered, with piece count per step)
  • Parts list — usually at the end, with element IDs per coloured part
  • Bag indicator: larger sets ship with multiple bags and the booklet shows which goes where
  • Sometimes extra story info (background on the set, fun facts)

How LEGO publishes them

For sets still available, the PDF is on the product page. For older sets you search through the service pages. Brickset maintains a complete index. The same PDF is often offered in multiple languages — but the build content is always identical; only text pages differ.

Where Lakea uses this

Every set page has a "???? Bouwinstructies" button linking directly to LEGO's page with our affiliate tag. We also download the PDFs server-side to extract the parts list — you see those in our "???? Onderdelen" modal as an interactive clickable version.
