Hybrid scale: from skyline to throne room in one set

What sets Minas Tirith apart from earlier LOTR displays is the combination of two scale levels in a single model. From a distance you see the complete microscale cityscape — the seven tiers of the city rising to the White Tower, with the iconic rock outcrop piercing the upper plateau. Step closer and minifigure-scale interiors open up in the citadel: the throne room where pivotal film moments unfold.

Designed by François Zapf. A livestream Q&A with the designer is scheduled for 12 May, 5pm BST.

Dimensions and place in the Icons line

The set measures 59 cm tall × 62 cm wide × 37 cm deep. With 8,278 pieces it sits in the same size category as the top retail Icons sets — for comparison: the Eiffel Tower (10307) has 10,001 pieces, the Titanic (10294) 9,090, and the Colosseum (10276) 9,036.

10 minifigures + Shadowfax

The set includes ten minifigures and the white horse Shadowfax:

  • Gandalf the White
  • Aragorn as King Elessar
  • Arwen
  • Faramir
  • Denethor
  • Peregrin Took
  • 4× Soldiers of Gondor

Themed accessories include Gondor helmets, shields, and Aragorn's crown.

Build time estimate

With 8,278 pieces, a build time of 20–30 hours is realistic (based on the AFOL rule-of-thumb of 15–20 minutes per 100 pieces for sets of this size category). Experienced builders finish faster; those who sort and savour land at the upper end.
